Apparently Cory’s publisher sent advance copies of his new book Little Brother to ACLU offices. I’ve met Cory a couple of times, and he’s always been extremely nice and full of interesting conversation. I’ve also read good things about the book from people who got even-more-advanced copies so they could write blurbs and whatnot. I know what I’ll be doing this weekend! |
The ACLU is in the news twice today:
ACLU demands Va. school stop censoring gay student
and
ACLU Defends Right to Use Anti-Gay Slurs
That’s right, we’re defending the rights of teenagers to proudly display their lesbianism on their t-shirts, and the rights of old men to express their feelings about gays by blaring insults from a truck sound system.
Isn’t it great to live in country where you can voice your opinion loud and clear without fear of expulsion or arrest? If you think so too, go donate or take action!
Disclosure: I am proud to be the Internet Operations Manager for ACLU’s affiliate in Washington State.
After pestering me on the streets of downtown Seattle all last summer with their swarms of teenagers with clipboards, Greenpeace has nailed shut the coffin of my erstwhile respect for them by promoting conservative congressional candidate David Reichert.
Several liberal blogs have promoted Reichert’s opponent, Darcy Burner, particularly during her “Burn Bush” campaign, in which Burner attempted to raise money online the same day that Reichert raised money by having GW Bush speak to his constituents in Bellevue. (She succeeded in raising more.) Meanwhile, Greenpeace is promoting the candidate whose record is decidedly not green.
